Con el sugerente título de The Radio is dead. Long live the radio! la Universidad del País Vasco-Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea celebra los días 24 y 25 de noviembre su I Congreso Internacional sobre Radio.

Organizado por el departamento de Comunicación Audiovisual y Publicidad de esta universidad, el Congreso contará, entre otros, con la presencia de Tim Wall, Professor of Radio and Popular Music Studies, del Brimingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research, el catedrático de Comunicación Audiovisual de la UPV-EHU, Pedro Barea Monge, y diversos profesionales de la radio española.

Entre sus actividades están previstas, además, la celebración de una mesa redonda sobre Radio y Fútbol, y la presentación de una ponencia sobre la radio en Cuba.

La presentación de comunciaciones estará abierta hasta el próximo 15 de octubre de 2011.

The Radio Is Dead. Long Live the Radio!

The International Conference “The Radio Is Dead. Long Live the Radio!” offers an exhaustive approach to the state of this audiovisual medium in the current context of world communications. During two days of meetings, debate and discussion, we will have the opportunity to analyze the new dynamics of interactive radio, the process of rediscovering the medium in relation to new technologies, production methods in this time of transformations, the adaptation of the new professionals, the reformulation of advertising or the new discourses of the radio understood as a communication alternative. A broad and heterogeneous reflection proceeding from the academic world on the radio, a communication medium that has taken up the challenge of “renovation or death” as a condition that must be met in order to resituate itself in the current universe of the mass media.
